special events

Every year, special annual events happen in the life of our church.
We welcome members and visitors alike to participate.

Living Nativity

Each Christmas season during the Living Windows event downtown, First Christian Church stages a live outdoor nativity program featuring children and youth of the church acting through the story of the birth of Jesus. In between performances, all are welcome into Bethany Hall to warm up with hot chocolate and cookies.

Christmas Bazaar

Christian Women's Fellowship sponsors a Christmas bazaar each year with proceeds going to a specific goal. Many talented creators within the church as well as a few outside the church sell their wares. The Cookie Caravan is a popular aspect, and lunch is served by the youth of the church.

Christmas Pageant

For more than 85 years, youth and adults in the church have brought the Christmas story to life as shepherds, angels, wise men, and Mary, Joseph, and Jesus. A "white gifts" offering is collected to support the Food Bank for Central & Northeast Missouri, and a tasting party follows the pageant to celebrate the season with finger foods, appetizers, and sweet treats.

Burns Night Supper & Ceilidh

A traditional Scottish celebration, Burns Night is a commemoration of the Romantic poet Robert Burns. More so, it is an opportunity to don your fanciest kilt, try some haggis, and dance the night away! Fight off the winter doldrums by gathering together to share a traditional meal of haggis, neeps 'n tatties and kick up your heels!
