Young Adult Commission Applications

Hey everyone!
The Young Adult Commission of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) is
now accepting applications. The term will be from January 2009-December
2011.
The Young Adult Commission is sponsored by Disciples Home Missions and
supported by Higher Education and Leadership Ministries.

Our mission statement is: "Called by God, the Young Adult Commission of the
Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) empowers young adults through
advocacy, networks, programs, and resources in all manifestations of the
church to share the light of Christ in our world."
The commission is charged with:
* Connecting young adults across our denomination;
* Planning young adult events before and during general assemblies;
* Planning young adult events on local, regional and general levels;
* Working with all manifestations of the Christian Church (Disciples of
Christ) to strengthen young adult leadership;
* Providing resources to start and strengthen local and regional young
adult groups; and
* Responding to the requests of our denomination, specifically its young
adults, to improve young adult ministries.

Members of the Young Adult Commission are expected to:
* Show a passion for young adult ministries and the greater ministries of
the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) on a local and/or
regional/general level;
* Offer your resources, passions, viewpoints, time and ideas in helping to
strengthen and carry out the goals of the Young Adult Commission;
* Participate regularly in online conversations with the rest of the
commission, using an e-mail list
serve;
* Participate in regularly schedule conference calls approximately every
other month;
* Attend one planning meeting per year at DHM¹s expense; and
* Attend General Assembly and other young adult events at your own
expense, if possible.

2008.
